Greetings! My Blog introduction.
Hi there, this is my first entry, so I suppose I should give a little background information about myself, and my wieght-loss adventure I am embarking on.
My name is Delaney, and I am a 31 year-old classical singer and actress…though I have not been able to perform for a while, which I will explain. I have always struggled with my weight, even as a kid I was a little on the pudgy side…I come from a family of short, rolly-polly women. In 2001 when I hit the 200 mark, I went on the atkins diet, and over four months time lost 40 pounds. I was very happy, looked great ( 150-160 is a good weight for me with my shape), and in the following two years was cast in romantic lead roles one after the other……everything was going good for me, until winter of 2004. I became very ill with pneumonia and wierd sinus infections, and I could not get better…respiratory illnessess kept attacking me, so that after I graduated college, instead of rushing out for auditions, I was stuck home imobile and not really able to sing. As it turned out there was toxic mold in the walls of my apartment, and it had gotten into my lungs etc….so I spent two years battling it, and due to the physical inactivity and the steriod treatments, I put on a lot of weigh…fast. Even though I had been plump before, I used to walk and ride a bike everywhere, and had a very busy active life…..and I went from that to working from home and struggling to breathe just in my efforts to walk to the mail box.
Well, now after a year of moving out and regaining my relative health….I need to get the weight off, both for obvious health reasons, and also so I can get back into my performance career.
I litterally gained over 100 pounds, something which I do not say directly in real life to others due to my embaressment…but I want to use this blog to have a place to put it all in black and white.
My wieght loss plan that I already have in action is that I am again on a log carb diet( atkins), am slowly building up on exercise ( because I still am building up my lung endurance after the long-term pneumonia), and the use of supplements– and general vitamins. Oh, and cannot forget…water water water.
I want to get some kind of home gym machine, but need to get my weight down a bit more because a lot of them I have noticed have a weight limit of 250.
So, my current progress is that I have lost ten pounds. I hope to use this blog to do a daily progress, reporting both on my weight, what I have eaten, and what exercise I have done etc….
So, on that note…
Today as of yet, I have eaten eggs and some bacon ( remember I am on low carb, lol). I had a cheese stick for a snack, and for dinner a salad that had chicken, cheese and vegies….and a low carb dill dressing. So far I have drank about 2 litters of water. I have taken my vitamins…and did my body flex work out tape ( its low impact yes, but I am hoping the breathing exercises will help build up my lungs for increased activity later.)
So, I think and hope I covered the basics. I guess I am just looking for a place to keep a progress diary and maybe have the support of others….without having to worry about the embaressment of the looks and so forth I get in normal life. I want to be healthy again and gain my life back. I feel like I lost a couple of years due to all of this, and if I do not lose this weight, I will just lose more.
Thanks for anyone who reads this, and feel free to comment.
